2024 Ritman Scholars announced
The four new Ritman Scholars were announced at the 2024 PBRI Symposium in Cairns.
Alyssa Martino (University of Sydney), Rabia Ali (Macquarie University), Michael Edwards (La Trobe University) and Zali Mahoney (University Of Queensland) were awarded the scholarship to attend the Symposium based on their PhD research contribution to Plant Health.
The Ritman Scholarship aims to support students committed to plant health and biosecurity by providing funding to attend the Plant Biosecurity Research Initiative (PBRI) Symposium. The scholarship enables recipients to present their research, covering expenses such as registration fees, travel, meals, and accommodation.
Additionally, Ritman Scholars play a key role in co-organising the Plant Health Student Network, fostering professional development, mentorship, and collaboration among students and early-career researchers in the field. The scholarship honors Dr. Kim Ritman, a champion of plant biosecurity, and seeks to build scientific capability in this critical area.
