2024 Nudgeathon – Nudging for better biosecurity

The PBRI was delighted to be sponsoring the Nudgeathon 2024 on 2-4 April 2024 held at Queensland University of Technology, Gardens Point Campus Brisbane.

The Nudgeathon is a behavioural change competition, in which teams develop solutions to real-life social issues. This year’s topic is Nudging for better biosecurity.

Each year, teams of undergrad and postgrad students and government and private sector experts from across Australia and New Zealand participate in an electrifying two-and-a-half-day Nudgeathon!

This year, teams worked through the night to address two challenges related to improving plant biosecurity in Australia.

A summary of the event and the 20 pitches that were developed by the students against the biosecurity challenge briefs can be found here

The winning entry from the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet was on the community engagement challenge. The pitch was entitled ‘Sight, Snap and Send’ crowdsourcing potential biosecurity threat identification.
