We are calling on Early Career Researchers working on plant health in Australia – you are invited to submit a short, compelling video to the 2026 International Day of Plant Health video contest promoting the importance of plant biosecurity for food security.
Every year on May 12, the global plant health community comes together to celebrate the International Day of Plant Health. This international observance highlights the critical role of plant health in safeguarding ecosystems, livelihoods, and food security worldwide.
To showcase and celebrate innovative research and give international visibility to the scientists behind it, the Asia-Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institutions (APAARI), together with CABI, CIHEAM Bari, the EUPHRESCO III Network, the International Seed Federation (ISF), and the Plant Biosecurity Research Initiative (PBRI), are excited to launch the 5th year of the international video contest.
Entries are required to:
- Promote the importance of contests’ theme in protecting plant health: Plant biosecurity for food security
- Address plant health research topics on quarantine priority pests of any country/region and/or innovative technologies
- Be no more than 90 seconds long
Who can apply?
- Early career researchers in plant health (MSc, PhD, Post-Doctoral fellows and young scientists – within 10 years of obtaining a PhD).
Contest prize.
- The contest winner will be invited to attend an international plant health conference – transport, accommodation, meals and conference fees are included – with the winning video also broadcast at high-profile international events celebrating the International Day of Plant Health.
